Famous Serbian artist Olja Ivanjicki died at the age of 78 in Belgrade. Her parents, Vasily Vasilenko Ivanjicki and Veronika Mihailovna Piotrovska, arrived in Serbia as expellees from Russia after the October revolution. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, but took up painting at the very beginning of her career. She had 87 exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. In the 1960s, she introduced pop art to Belgrade and gave performances to remember. Her paintings are housed in the most famous museums and galleries worldwide. She was the winner of numerous awards, such as the Sedmojulska and Vukova nagrada prize for life achievement.
